NEW TEAL OF THE WEEK No. 135

JRD897P

This unique and admirable Teal Type 35 boat-tail lives with lucky owner Brian  in Lancashire, and includes several unusual features:  one immediately notices the artistic design of the windscreen, seen in  classic art deco-style cars of the1920s period such as some  Bugattis and Amilcars,  and the black  leather surround  on the scuttle in front of the screen, sweeping down elegantly to the armrests on each side.  The external right hand gear change complements the handbrake, and echoes, of course, the system used by Ettore Bugatti on his Type 35s. This delightful  Teal appears to have dummy front and rear springs, brake covers, a finely-detailed  gearbox casing (with convenient oil top-up point), and a splendid dashboard and period steering wheel (see photos below)…

Brian writes from Lancashire:

“Most of the build was done by my friend Peter. Sadly he passed away two years ago. The screen is my design taken from my MX 2 Morgan and the leather is to match the arm rests and to hide the rivets in the holes where the fold down fly screens were held on. I reckoned the paint would crack around there sooner or later….”

Brian now  intends to fit an MGB engine and a strong MGB  diff ,  and plans to re-secure the spline adapters for the wire wheels to make a more comfortable driving experience.   Do Tealers agree this is a delightful example of the Teal marque? We wish you well in  completing the mods on Teal Of  The week No 135, Brian
